Meilani is growing up too fast! She recently attended a church Activity Day Camp for girls 8 to 11. I remember when she went the first year she seemed so young. This year I went at the end of the day to watch the little dance performance and I almost cried, realizing she's one of the older girls now!
She also tried out for her school's volleyball team. Apparently the competition was stiff because 24 girls tried out and any of the sixth graders who played before pretty much automatically made the team. We kept reminding her that she had to work really hard and that she still might not make it. She was thrilled to make it on the team as a "real player" as opposed to an alternate. I didn't realize when we signed up for soccer months ago that volleyball would be during the same season, so we're letting her do both for now. Maybe next year we'll just do one. She also joined the ASB group (student government), at school. She's excited to help plan the school activities this year. I think that will be right up her alley! She's also learning trombone this year in music class.
And on top of it all, she was awarded the Student of the Month award for "Trustworthiness." So far she seems to be juggling her commitments well. I'm so proud of my girl!

That is so awesome! I am so proud of her too. More and more each day Carmen reminds of how Melani was 4 years ago - stubborn, bossy and emotional. (Maybe she is still the same way....) But it's good to see her growing and maturing in so many ways!!!
