It's a Bird . . . It's a Plane . . . It's SUPER SARIAH!

Some time ago Sariah put in her order for a superhro party. I said "okay" figuring that she would change her mind a hundred times before planning time rolled around, but to my surprise, the superhero theme stuck. I had a lot of fun planning the party, and all the little heroes were super happy to join in the fun. Everyone got their own superhero mask and cape (plastic table cloths) when they arrived. They decorated the shield on their capes with foam stickers, then we played pin the mask on the hero, tested our heros' super speed in a relay race, and had an obstacle course to strengthen their agility. We also played hero in the middle, pass the kryptonite, and fought off the cake stealing evil villain. We had 18 kids in attendance and every single one was incredibly well behaved! I was really amazed. They all listened, followed directions, and were oh so polite. They really are a bunch of superduper five year olds!

Meg made some Superhero cupcakes with marshmallow fondant shields. Super yum!

Ben came out as the Evil Villain announcing that he had stolen the cupcakes. The kids fought him with silly string until he revealed his hiding place.

Sariah learned this game called "Fishy in the Middle" at swim lessons last year. She wanted to play it at her party. Obviously, no pool here, so we adapted it to our hero theme:

"Hero in the middle, looking at me, Super (fill in the blank)'s in the middle, now try to fly free."

My good buddy Melinda came all the way from Sacramento so her daughter could attend the party. After the party we snuck in an early dinner with a few friends while Ben watched the kids (he can turn from villain to hero in the blink of an eye!)
