LOVE-ly Weekend!

We really did have a lovely Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend! Friday night we met Ben for dinner at our favorite restaurant, Red Robin (good food, fast service, kid friendly, need I say more). Then Saturday my little sister Megan went through the temple for the first time. It was a very Spirit filled experience and Ben and I were so happy to be there in the temple with her, together as family members. We went to Fentons for lunch and ice cream afterwards. Sunday, Valentine's Day, I made homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and Ben made steak and parmesan risotto for dinner (He swore he would never make parmesan risotto again after the last time he made it, because it takes so long, but it was v-day and he conceded!). We had a relaxing evening at home with friends and ate homemade oreos for dessert. Yum! Monday Ben and the kids were off from school so we took a trip to the Oakland Zoo, then went up to walk around the temple grounds. Afterwards, dinner at Grandmom's with the fam. Is it just me, our did our weekend involve a lot of eating? It all was delish . . . and quite lovely.

Me, Meg, and Mom in front of the Oakland Temple.

Ben, Pam and Norm (Ben's parents), Toni Mann (our Young Women's Leader. She taught us so much about the gospel when we first joined the church and has always been a great example to me! It was great to catch up with her on Saturday.), Me, Meg, Mom.

"Making the decision to have a child is . . . to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." -Elizabeth Stone Here's where my heart resides!

I made Ben a crafty picture thingy for his office. I put those 2x4's to good use! Tutorial here.

Ben sent me some beautiful roses! His sweet words in the accompanying card were the best part.

Checking out the animals at the Oakland Zoo.

Checking out my little "animals."

Liam loved the lilly pad pond.

Baaaaaaasking in the sun with the sheep.

Up on top of the temple terrace. It was a beautiful day, you could see all the way to the Golden Gate bridge. My how Ben and I look like real grown-ups. Funny how that happens.

"Reverently" playing in the fountain outside the temple (as if that's even possible!). Last time we were here, Liam gave Meilani's stuffed animal a dunk in the water. This time Sariah threw a pamphlet into the stream and the kids chased the pieces of it through the water.

Yes, you have been so crafty! and I'm so happy for Megan, I'm sure it was such a wonderful experience. I'm glad you got your steak and Risotto and I wish we were there celebrating Valentine's Day with you guys. I told Sam that I was especially missing you guys this weekend, I somehow knew we would have hung out if we were there.

That does sound like such a great weekend! So sweet. That's so cool that you were able to go through the temple with Megan. I can so relate to "reverently" playing at the temple grounds. :)

I love your quote: "Making the decision to have a child is . . . to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." -Elizabeth Stone. The one I always have is "Having a baby is like getting a tattoo on your face. You need to be certain it's what you want before you commit." Elizabeth Gilbert. I'm thinking you are hitting on a more sentimental perspective of parenting. Love your Blog!
